Baden Powell Hotel, Melbourne

The hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms were not very clean and had some maintenance issues, but they were fairly quiet. The service was understanding and accommodating despite difficult circumstances. The location was decent, with a bit of a walk to the city center. Although the nearby restaurants were closed, it was near a tram station. The dining included local seafood. Overall, the hotel was a mixed experience.

The hotel is in a convenient location close to Collingwood nightlife and Smith Street, offering good value for money. The rooms, though facing west and receiving some sun, had cleanliness issues with hair and dust. The service was friendly but lacked proactive communication. The hotel is very close to a tram station, making it ideal for quick city access.

The hotel had both positive and negative aspects to consider. The rooms were clean and spacious with a good size bathroom, fridge, and tea and coffee amenities. However, the room was let down by being basic and not as cozy as depicted in the photos, with significant dust accumulation, especially under the bed. The service was friendly and accommodating, particularly Mikey who went the extra mile during our check-out. The location was convenient, close to a tram stop that provided easy access to various parts of the city. On the downside, there was an unusual sharp metal piece near the tram station that caused injury. The dining experience, although included and even offering homemade muffins, could be improved. The facilities were average, lacking any standout features.

Upon arrival, the rooms smelt like smoke and continued to be that way during our stay. They were just accessible by a pin code, making it easy for me to come and go as I pleased. Dining with friends above the pub added a unique touch to the experience, although there was some noise from downstairs. The location was just off the tram line, which was convenient for getting into the CBD for what I needed - a shower and a bed.

The hotel rooms were basic and quite small but clean, except for a missed spot under the bed for a while. The lack of furnishings and decoration made it feel a bit cramped, situated right above the pub garden. The service offered helpful assistance, with delicious food and craft beers served by a wonderful team of friendly and fun staff, making guests feel welcome. The location was convenient, close to public transport and within reach of the city, though it could feel burdensome for foreign tourists. The dining experience included fresh fish dishes. Overall, a decent place with areas that could be improved for a better stay.
